Sony’s latest update about the upcoming FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick isn’t going to help soothe over the turbulent times it’s been facing since its decision to cease physical disc production on its games from 2028. The exciting new addition to PlayStation’s line-up of peripherals is now delayed indefinitely due to “unexpected production delays”, in an announcement on PlayStation Blog.
If you weren’t paying attention when the buzz around this one was doing the rounds last year after it officially moved out of being called Project Defiant, it’s a nifty little way to interact better with games like Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. You have the full suite of PlayStation buttons laid out flat to facilitate easier reach, a lever for those complex moves, a touchpad, and compatibility with the PlayStation Link USB adapter, allowing it to blend seamlessly into an existing PS5 setup. It looks quite good too, the theme blending with the PS5’s black-and-white motif.
Well, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer for this one, which is quite an annoyance considering it should have been close to release after a delay pushed it from July to August 2026. Perhaps those rising component costs have Sony being careful about drawing more ire from the lot of us? Your guess is as good as ours until more concrete information comes up.
