Pragmata

While Resident Evil Requiem remains the breadwinner for Capcom, its newest IP, Pragmata, is steadily building a name for itself. According to the publisher’s consolidated results for the fiscal quarter ending July 30th, the sci-fi shooter has sold over 2.5 million units since its April launch.

Its last milestone was two million-plus in 16 days. All in all, it’s pretty good progress, especially since Pragmata was initially announced in June 2020 and saw numerous delays over the years. The development team later revealed the challenges faced in trying to nail its unique combination of third-person shooting and puzzle-solving amid harsh internal feedback.

Nevertheless, the initial success is enough for Capcom to explore further titles. It even said the success of Resident Evil remakes allows for funding titles like Pragmata, so the strong sales are a net positive overall.

Pragmata is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Set in the future, it focuses on Hugh, who ventures to The Cradle on the Moon to investigate an outage. Besides genocidal robots, he discovers Diana, an android, and together, they work to survive and eventually escape. For more details, you can check out our review. We ended up scoring it a 9 out of 10.
