Kingdom Hearts fans got more than they bargained for, that too during Nintendo Direct of all places, when a new trailer was revealed for the fourth mainline entry. And even if Kingdom Hearts 4 doesn’t have a release date (at least officially), it’s coming to Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. So now the question is: When’s the next info drop?
Potentially at Disney’s D23, which will feature a series Deep Dive panel on August 15th. Odds initially seemed low, but as noted by Kingdom Hearts Insider, the D23 app lists the profiles of three key individuals: Square Enix’s Tai Yasue and actors Haley Joel Osment and David Gallagher.
The latter two are known for playing Sora/Vanitas and Riku throughout the series, so it makes sense that they may attend. Yasue is the standout because he’s a co-director on Kingdom Hearts 4. Even if there isn’t a new trailer showcased, there could be insights into Quadratum, the newest location.
Anything is possible, especially as store listings reportedly pointed to a launch in 2027 shortly after the last trailer dropped. Square Enix may let anticipation fester before truly kicking marketing into overdrive next year. But as it stands, Kingdom Hearts 4 is making steady progress after all these years. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
