Next Kingdom Come RPG to be Released Before End of April 2028

The development period between Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and the next game is considerably shorter than Warhorse Studios typically needs.

Following a report from May indicating that the next game in the Kingdom Come franchise will come out between April 2027 and March 2028, developer Warhorse Studios has now confirmed that it plans to release the title before the end of its fiscal year 2028, which translates to before the end of April 2028. This new confirmation, courtesy of a financial report by publisher Embracer Group, lines up nicely with the company’s previously noted plans.

It is also worth noting that, since Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 came out in 2025, the next title coming out by early 2028 would indicate that Warhorse Studios has done quite a bit to polish and refine its game development pipelines. The studio is known for taking its time with its games, which could be seen with the gap between the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Deliverance 2. The former came out in 2018, and it took the studio around seven years to make its sequel.

Warhorse Studios had confirmed that it was working on “a new Kingdom Come adventure” in May. Since there was no mention of the word Deliverance in the title, this has led to speculation that it might be a spin-off focusing on a new set of characters, leaving behind series protagonist Henry. While no details on this front have been revealed yet, communications director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and community manager Tom Grey have clarified that it will be an open-world RPG led by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lead designer Prokop Jirsa.

Just last month, a trademark filing was spotted indicating that the game might be titled Kingdom Come Salvation. The trademark was filed and received on July 23rd, and the listing notes that Warhorse Studios is its owner. An official logo was also revealed. The timing for this could indicate that we might get our first look at the title relatively soon, especially with major events like Gamescom’s Opening Night Live coming later this month.

Warhorse Studios has also been working on another project. Described as “an open world Middle-earth RPG”, the game doesn’t yet have any official title, and few details have been revealed so far aside from the fact that it is being headed up by Viktor Bocan. Stolz-Zwilling has also referred to it as being an “absolute passion project” for the studio, and that it will “be a living world” with a “strong narrative focus” and “deeply immersive” gameplay.

The two projects were announced together after Warhorse Studios wrapped up its work on the post-launch DLCs for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. In its first year, the open-world RPG got plenty of expansions that further fleshed out its world and added new adventures for players to go on. The last of these was Mysteria Ecclesiae, which revolved around Sedletz Monastery, a deadly plague, and a strange mystery behind the outbreak of the disease.
