State of Play and State of Play Japan_September 2026

PlayStation has announced not one but two State of Play presentations for September 3rd. The first will offer “updates and announcements” from PlayStation Studios and “third-party partners” at 6 AM PT, with the runtime unknown.

It concludes with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation receiving an extended look, but afterwards, State of Play Japan will begin. Promising “deep dives” into upcoming titles from Japan and Asia studios, there will be gameplay and whatnot to dig into, with Yuki Kaji returning to host.

The last State of Play Japan happened in November 2025 and featured such titles as Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows, and more. Meanwhile, the most recent general State of Play was in June and focused primarily on extensive gameplay showcases for Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War Laufey.

It’s anyone’s guess what Sony could showcase this time around, but with the latter launching in February 2027, we may finally learn more about what’s going on in the Everywhen. Of course, it’s also possible that Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic finally receives a gameplay reveal and perhaps a release window (rumored to be next year).

Appearances from titles like 4:LOOP wouldn’t be out of the question either, though you have to wonder if Fairgame$ will ever be seen again. As always, stay tuned for more details and live coverage later this week.
