You really can’t have an RGG Studio title without some fisticuffs, and that fact holds for Stranger Than Heaven. The decades-spanning action-adventure, which follows Makoto Daito from era to era in Japan, presents some pretty vicious combat mechanics, and more gore than either Yakuza or Judgment. But it’s also venturing into, surprisingly enough, the music space.
Makoto has this unique ability to pick up sounds and seamlessly mix them into compositions. Eventually, he becomes a showman – the one responsible for organizing performances. It’s more than just setting up posters and drawing customers. He can also act as a producer, adjusting different instruments to alter a track’s entire mood.
Once you’ve found the right version of a song, you’ll need to scout out talent, including singers and musicians. You can even add different effects like confetti and smoke to hype up the audience. However, this is a business, so while putting on a stellar show is all well and good, you need to turn a profit.
Believe it or not, there’s even more, since Makoto won’t serve as a passive observer in the audience. Check out the in-depth look video below for more details. Stranger Than Heaven launches on January 15th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
