If we’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: October is absolutely jam-packed with releases. It would be easy for any narrative adventure title or remaster to get lost in the shuffle…but not The Wolf Among Us Remastered. Launching October 29th, it’s based on Telltale’s 2013 adventure, albeit with several improvements.
And if there’s anyone excited to jump in, it’s the original cast and development team. Randy Ma, senior creative director for DC Comics, said: “Seeing the remaster and seeing what your memory of this game is being actualized is fantastic.” Molly Benson, who voiced Nerissa, believes it gives more people the opportunity to play, and that its upgrades only serve to highlight “the beauty of it that’s already there.”
Ma is also excited about the setting of Fabletown, because at the time, it was a “bit limited” and a “bit sparse.” However, that ended up working in the original’s favor given its noir aesthetic. “But being able to contemporize it with today’s technology, and adding in more elements to make the town feel more lived in, more alive, is something I’m really looking forward to.”
Environment art lead Kim Lyons also wished she was 10 to 15 years younger so “I could just jump in there and do it all myself.” Benson believes that even if you’ve played it before, you should “play it again.” “A new player? Oh, buckle up. Get ready. It’s a really fun ride.”
Beyond the visual improvements for characters, the environment, animation and performance, The Wolf Among Us Remastered features an updated UI and better accessibility. Long-time fans can look forward to extensive additional content, including interviews, images, and deleted scenes.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. And if you’re hankering for more, the sequel is out next year after a long development cycle and numerous delays.
