Mafia 3: Definitive Edition is now natively available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It brings 60 FPS gameplay and cutscenes, though certain pre-rendered cinematics will remain at 30 FPS. Check out the launch trailer below.
The release also brings several improvements to the title, including improved Trophy and Achievement tracking, and fixes for progression blockers in the campaign and DLC. The visuals have also improved with fixes for visual artifacts caused by lighting, vegetation streaming, and more.
Other improvements abound for stability, NPC behavior, animation “reliability” in cutscene dialogue, and the UI. PC owners also benefit from a variety of fixes and improvements. For example, if you couldn’t progress in certain missions or encountered “dead ends” in the story, those should be addressed. Furthermore, certain characters should now behave as intended and not block mission progress.
The PC version has seen its share of graphical fixes, including lighting draw distance improvements, and you can finally turn off those annoying borders on the game window. Higher frame rates, including 120, 144, 180 and 240 FPS, are also finally supported. Check out the full patch notes here for more details.
And while Mafia 2: Definitive Edition is conspicuously absent despite the recent ESRB rating, 2K says this update is “part of our ongoing efforts” to bring Mafia: The Omertà Collection to current-generation platforms. As always, stay tuned for updates on that front in the coming months.
