After announcing funding to complete development on Lords of the Fallen 2, CI Games and Hexworks have released some new combat gameplay. While it may seem very familiar, several changes and improvements could elevate it beyond the original.
The first is switching weapons mid-combo, opening up several possibilities when attacking enemies. It remains to be seen whether this can compete with Phantom Blade Zero’s fluidity. However, Lords of the Fallen 2 also promises more diversity in its weapon classes, quickfire abilities and even counterstrike skills over the original. So if you’re the more defensive-minded, you may find your niche. It may also allow for defensing against quicker foes and then swapping to a faster weapon when there’s an opening.
Those who want to invest in magic and ranged weapons also have plenty of reasons to celebrate. Each gets dedicated stances, and spellcasting is now instant. You’ll also never run out of base ammunition, though special arrows and bullets could be where ranged combat truly shines. Finally, the development team touts improved weapon upgrades, though how isn’t really showcased.
Overall, this makes us even more excited to play Lords of the Fallen 2 when it launches in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. If you want to see even more combat gameplay, including dual-wielding and bare-handed skills, head here.
