If the announcement of a new voice actor for the male Captain wasn’t enough, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has veteran talent on board for the narrative. And not just any talent, but David Gaider, best known as the lead writer for Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
“Alongside my work at Summerfall, I’ve also been collaborating with the Owlcat Games team on The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, focusing on certain aspects of the game’s narrative,” he wrote on Bluesky. “The Expanse has long been one of my favourite series, and so obviously I jumped at the opportunity to be involved.”
Said narrative aspects haven’t been detailed, but it’s still worth celebrating. After all, Gaider’s resume spans iconic role-playing games like Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2, Neverwinter Nights, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Dragon Age fans will know him best as the creator of its setting, Thedas, alongside its history and most recognizable factions, like the Grey Wardens.
He also worked on Anthem early on, but friction with the team over his vision led to his departure. Gaider joined Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition developer Beamdog before leaving two years later to found Summerfall Studios.
As for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, it’s currently slated to launch in Spring 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. While Owlcat Games has released new gameplay before revealing the male protagonist’s updated voice, it promised to address other feedback following this year’s closed beta. More details are still to be revealed, but you can learn more about the language of the Belt, Lang Belta, here.
