The Fallout series has exploded like a nuclear bomb over the last couple of weeks. Ever since Amazon Prime’s acclaimed eight-episode series premiered on April 10, both the show itself as well as the games it is inspired by have enjoyed roaring success.
In fact, according to a report published by Variety, in its first full week (April 12-18), Fallout had over 5 million views. It was by far the biggest streaming original of the week, racking up over 2.5 billion minutes of collective watch time across all viewers. Meanwhile, prior to that, in its first two days (April 10 and 11), it saw 285.3 million minutes of watch time.
Given the show’s success, it’s no surprise that Amazon has already greenlit a second season. As per prior reports, production on season 2 will kick off in September in Toronto, before then moving to California for the majority of filming.
Bethesda’s Fallout games have also been enjoying significant boosts in sales and player engagement. Fallout 4 recently topped weekly European charts with a 7,500% week-on-week increase in sales, while Fallout 76 hit an all-time high peak of concurrent players on Steam. The online title was also able to attract over a million players in a single day, while the entire Fallout series had over 5 million players in that same period.
