Among Us - Airship

InnerSloth’s next map for Among Us, Airship, is releasing on March 31st. Unveiled during The Game Awards 2020, it’s been quite the wait but players can look forward to new tasks, ladders, new free hats and much more. An account system is also being added along with the option to choose a starting room.

Explaining why the map took so long to release, the developer stated, “Among Us’ popularity was something no one expected, and quite late into 2020 too. (Thank you for that!!) We had already considered the game done and had moved onto something else. And while it may seem odd things took a few months, it’s quite normal in game development, especially for a team of our size. When you work in an official capacity and need to handle various business needs, there are more legal considerations that need to be put into it versus if it were just a side project or mod!”

It also noted that the cross-platform nature of the game meant creating and testing the map to ensure it worked on all devices was essential. Maintenance has also been a big factor, taking time away from development to deal with hacker reports, server outages and so on. Though InnerSloth is a smaller team, hiring more employees also takes away precious time (though more new hires are currently inbound).

Other factors also came into play but regardless, the Airship map is nearly here. Among Us is currently available Android, iOS, PC and Nintendo Switch with an Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One version out later this year.
