Angry Birds Epic: Gameplay Trailer Reveals Turn-Based Battles

The Birds explore a new world fraught with the same ol' dangers.

Rovio has released the first gameplay trailer for Angry Birds Epic, which you can check out above. Based on the company’s multi-million dollar franchise, it takes place from a turn-based perspective and allows you to command the birds across an overworld to defeat the Piggies.

There are also mechanics in Epic to create new gear, items and such using crafting. There is also support for micro-transactions so expect to see us complaining about that. Interestingly, Angry Birds Epic is currently available to iOS users in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The rest of the world will seemingly need to wait and it seems that Epic will be out on Android later worldwide.

This isn’t the only fantasy-themed Angry Birds title from Rovio – Angry Birds Stella has also been revealed and will have a new cast of characters along with a darker tone. How will it measure up to Epic? We’ll find out in the coming months.
