In its most recent Direct, Nintendo showcased over 27 minutes of footage and features for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The NookPhone, crafting and other aspects are revisited but we get to learn about some other new features. These include Island Tours, Land Development and much more.

Since the game is about relocating to a deserted island and building your community, the player is given exceptional freedom. You can set up your tent anywhere, forage for resources and craft tools, complete tasks in the NookPhone for Nook Miles and unlock special rewards, and so on. Eventually, you can invite other characters to come and stay on the island. And yes, your tent can be upgraded into a house over time.

Island Tours are an intriguing mix-up. You can purchase tickets and essentially travel to mysterious islands. Different creatures and materials can be gathered to bring back to your island. Various characters might also be present and chatted with. Land Development is more straight-forward. After the island has been suitably upgraded, you gain a permit for paving paths, creating costs, destroying cliffs, and so on.

It’s all very intriguing and yet presented in a soothing manner. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out on March 20th for Nintendo Switch. Check out the Direct video below for other details.
