After outlining stealth, combat, and parkour, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has received one final deep dive article about The Hideout. Located in the Izumi province and managed by Miss Tomiko, it acts as a base to foster your own league of assassins.

System associate director Dany St-Laurent said, “It’s pretty ambitious. After fortresses, villas, homesteads, pirate coves, café-theatres, moving trains, ships, settlements, assassin bureaus…We knew that if we wanted to make anything new on that front, we had to take a bold step forward. That meant giving players the option to build their home base with complete freedom.”

Players will have an entire acre of land to customize, and there are some exciting options, though you need to tag resources like wood, minerals, and crops while also spending “mons.” Exterior elements include Paths, Fences, and Light Sources wherever there’s free space. You can move or replace them as you see fit, which also applies to decorations obtained from quests, contracts, merchants, or enemy locations.

“There are many cosmetics to find. From humble garden rocks to large and complex set pieces. Seeing these pop up always gets me wondering how I’ll use them in my next visit – you never know what might inspire your next renovation,” says St-Laurent.

Some rooms will impact your gameplay, though. Tomiko’s Hiroma provides access to The Hideout’s functions and can’t be shifted. The Stables house scouts used to smuggle materials each season. The Forge is used to upgrade and dismantle equipment, engrave perks and transmog.

The Kakurega lets you purchase safe houses that serve as fast travel points while refilling tools, managing allies, and accessing regional contracts. You’ll also want to spend time in the Dojo since you can train your allies and upgrade the power of their skills.

Check out the various possible Hideout layouts in the trailer below. Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on March 20th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with reviews allegedly going live on March 18th. Its main story is 30 to 40 hours long, with optional content increasing the total playtime to 80 hours.
