80. Arkham Knight

Despite being delayed again and seeing Warner Bro’s Interactive making a blindingly stupid move, excitement for the latest instalment in the Batman Arkham series of video games remains high. Yes, the Arkham Knight has received a few knocks, but it’s best to keep the game behind locked doors until it’s ready to launch.

Gaz Deaves, the Social Marketing Manager at Rocksteady Studios has been talking to us about how “liberating” it has been to take Batman into a massive sprawling version of Gotham, rather than the somewhat scaled down version that we’re used to. He said, “Gameplay-wise, it’s been very liberating to take the Dark Knight from the confines of Arkham City into the massive, open explorable Gotham that we’ve built for this game.

“The extra scope has given us so much opportunity to enhance every aspect of the game. Gliding and navigating the rooftops has been expanded to accommodate the increased size of the city – both in terms of footprint and vertical height – and at street level the Batmobile gives us a lot of options for mixing up combat, navigation, problem-solving and more. ”

He continues on to talk about how the games scale doesn’t just apply to the size of the world, but how it also effects the amount of enemies that the caped crusader is going to encounter. After all, it would be a tad strange to be in such a huge game world, only to fight 7-8 foes in one group. Gaz said, “The groups of thugs that you encounter will be bigger than in previous games, and you’ll see them dynamically rioting and looting as they move around the city. It’s up to you whether you choose to engage them on foot, ignore them, or disperse them quickly with the Batmobile.”

Get yourself ready, Batman’s coming this June on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
