Of the many new features that DICE has been advertising with Battlefield 5, Grand Operations is easily the most exciting. A larger scale version of Operations, one Grand Operation takes the player across several days and maps, changing the location and mode on each “day”. Perform well on the first day, and you may have an easier time on day two. If both teams are at a stalemate, then day five will be a fight to the death.
So imagine some players’ surprise when DICE’s blog post on the same promised that Grand Operations would be coming “shortly after launch”. That would have meant Grand Operations would have joined Royale (Battlefield 5’s version of battle royale) and Tides of War as not being available on launch day. Fortunately, DICE seems to have amended the post and indicated, “You can deploy in Grand Operations at launch and as part of Tides of War.”
There’s still no fixed release date for Royale and Tides of War, but the latter will act as pseudo-seasonal content, taking players across different conflicts and offering exclusive rewards in the process. Royale, on the other hand, could release at any time, so stay tuned for more information.
Battlefield 5 is out on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
