Playstation Move support

When it comes to control, PS3 players will have a choice of nightmares

With a much delayed and rather uninspired port, Playstation 3 owners were hard done by with the PS3 version of Bioshock. Irrational Games have promised that the same fate will not befall Bioshock Infinite and, putting their money where the mouths are, they have since announced that the PS3 version of Inifinite will be developed in-house in conjunction with the PC and Xbox 360 versions. Not only that, but Sony aficionados will also have the option of Playstation Move support to bolster their Bioshock experience.

New decisions

Decisions, decisions

The moral choice system offered a layer of replay value to Bioshock and, though the Little Sisters won’t be present in Infinite, there will be a similar sense of player choice in the game. Elizabeth’s unique powers over time and space will provide a great benefit to the player, but they also damage her and cause pain every time she uses them. Much like the Little Sisters, the player will be forced to consider if her life worth jeopardising for more power. The passive upgrades, known as nostrums, also add a layer of choice, as they cannot be altered or removed once consumed. You can also choose between stable and unstable nostrums. Though stable ones are more expensive, unstable nostrums give random upgrades, with the player getting a choice of four random stat changes when an unstable nostrum is consumed.

A change in tactics

New enemy types will force players to use different tactics

One of the few prevalent criticisms levelled at Bioshock was how one tactic could be used to clear the whole game. Combat was usually close quarters, so there wasn’t much need for multiple weapons and plasmid types. Irrational Games have noted this criticism, and have promised that Bioshock Infinite will introduce new situations that will force the player to constantly re-evaluate and adjust their battle plans. How they will do this is uncertain, but it is a call worth getting excited over regardless.
