Anthem looks good- there’s no two ways about it. It looks like an interesting concept, set in a beautiful looking world. But a lot of vetern BioWare fans have taken issue with the very nature of the upcoming game, in that it forgoes the traditionally single player narrative focus of BioWare games in the past, and instead adopts an online-only approach to compete against the likes of Destiny and The Division.

That, however, may not be the case, if what BioWare’s Michael Gamble has said recently is to be believed. When asked by a fan on Twitter if recent reports of people like Mike Laidlaw and Aaryn Flynn leaving the studio, combined with the shuttering of Visceral Games collectively signifies the death of major single player projects over at EA, Gamble said that that’s not necessarily the case, saying that judgement should be held until people actually get to see future projects.

Does this mean there’s major single player announcements coming up over at EA? Almost definitely so. The canon campaign in Star Wars: Battlefront 2  goes to show that EA certainly haven’t lost interest in the single player side of things.

What’s more, it also looks like Anthem may not be the online-only Destiny competitor people have been thinking of it as. When asked by another fan about the same on Twitter, Gamble said there’s announcements coming in soon. Gamble also stated he is looking forward to the Xbox One X, from a developer as well as from the gamer’s perspective.

So yeah, that’s definitely piqued our interest. A single player focused component in Anthem would definitely go a long way in increasing everyone’s interest towards the game. It remains to be seen whether it’ll actually happen. Stay tuned to GamingBolt and we’ll keep you updated.
