Blizzard Would “Love to Have” Diablo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Blizzard also discusses how Deckard Cain could potentially function in the crossover fighting game.

Quick question- what’s the weirdest and most unlikely but one of the most awesome crossover characters you’d like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Nintendo’s premiere fighting game is already bursting at the seams with non-franchise heroes like Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy 7), Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid), Pac-Man, and Mega Man. But how would the inclusion of Diablo sound?

Diablo 3: Eternal Collection is coming to the Nintendo Switch in Fall and includes exclusive content themed on The Legend of Zelda. With that in mind, Game Informer had a chat with Blizzard senior producer Pete Stilwell and PR manager Joshua Wittge about which Blizzard characters they’d like to see make the jump.

Stillwell said, “Personally, yeah, I’d love to have Diablo. That to me is the immediate one. Then if we had over time, eventually the heroes, go through all of them… or you could go really awesome and only have Deckard Cain.”

Wittge added that Cain would “just whack them with the cane or put them to sleep.” Stillwell liked the idea and put a more diabolical twist on it. “Or he puts them to sleep and just slowly drags them to the edge and drops them off. Like really sinister Deckard Cain.”

While it doesn’t seem terribly likely that Diablo will make it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before launch, director Masahiro Sakurai did tease some unrevealed characters. So honestly, you can never say never. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out on December 7th for Nintendo Switch. Which Blizzard character would you like to see included? Let us know below.
