Borderlands 2 Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary

Update: The Steam store page for the DLC has since been removed. Perhaps an official announcement will be coming at Microsoft’s presser after all. Check out the tweet below from The Angry Joe Show’s Lashman if you need any more convincing that it’s real.

Original Story:

Last week, an anonymous source said that Gearbox Software would be looking to bridge the story between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 with some DLC. Today, it’s confirmed that Commander Lilith and The Fight for Sanctuary will be out on June 10th for Borderlands 2 players. The Steam page for the same is currently up.

The story involves Sanctuary being under siege as the Vault Map is stolen and “a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora.” There are new bosses to fight, new areas, new loot (along with a new tier that goes “beyond Legendary”) and a “deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet.” The level cap will also be increased to 80 but new players can be boosted to level 30 and hop right in.

There’s no word yet on pricing but given that the DLC is out one day after Microsoft’s E3 2019 presser (where Borderlands 3 is rumoured to appear), we may learn more there. As for Borderlands 3, it’s currently slated to release on September 13th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store until April 2020. Gearbox has stated that it plans to reveal a new planet and Vault Hunter at E3. Stay tuned for more details as usual.
