As is tradition at this point, Call of Duty will appear at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Producer and host Geoff Keighley confirmed on Twitter that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will receive its first campaign playthrough at the show.
The contents of the playthrough remain to be seen (though it could showcase an in-game mission). We know that the first-person shooter’s campaign takes place directly after Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and it’s set during the Gulf War. It sees the player and their allies going rogue after a new threat seemingly takes over the CIA. Other operatives join their cause, operating out of the new Manor.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on October 25 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. It will also be the first title in the franchise to launch day one for Game Pass.
Gamescom Opening Night Live is set for 11 AM PST, August 20. Other titles confirmed to appear at the showcase include Monster Hunter Wilds, Dune: Awakening, Marvel Rivals, Civilization 7, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Supermassive Games also teased a reveal for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
