Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War PS4 Multiplayer Alpha Includes 5 Maps and Modes, Over a Dozen Weapons, and More

The multiplayer alpha will be live for all PS4 owners later today.

As announced at the recent PS5 ShowcaseCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be getting free multiplayer open alpha on PS4 later today, which will run through the weekend, giving all PS4 owners a chance to dive into the game’s multiplayer offerings. Ahead of the alpha going live, Activision have released a new trailer for it, which you can see below, while Treyarch have also provided exact details on what the alpha will and won’t include.

The developer says that since this is an alpha, it will have several placeholder elements that will not be there in the final game, while several features that will be in the game – such as toggling certain HUD elements, inspecting weapons, finishing moves, and more – won’t be featured in the alpha.

So what will be in the alpha? There will be five playable modes to try out- four 6v6 modes with Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint (which will become available tomorrow), and one one 12v12 mode with Combined Arms: Domination. There will be five maps as well- three maps for 6v6 modes, namely Moscow, Miami, and Satellite, and two more for Combined Arms, namely Armada and Crossroads.

There will also be several assault rifled, shotguns, SMGs, LMGs, tactical rifles, pistols, sniper rifles, and more, making for over a dozen guns that can be used in the alpha, in addition to tactical and lethal items such as smoke grenades, stun grenades, frags, and C4.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches for the PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 13. A multiplayer beta will also be going live in October.
