Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2_07

For all of its issues, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been a massive success for Activision and Infinity Ward. Not only did it top UK physical sales charts in its debut week, but it also had the biggest PlayStation Store launch for the series, as announced by PlayStation on Twitter.

The figure includes pre-orders and day-one sales, though Activision hasn’t yet revealed the overall sales numbers. As a follow-up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), a reboot of the 2007 classic, the campaign sees Task Force 141 on a globe-trotting mission to stop a terrorist threat. It’s the first game to use the new unified Call of Duty Engine.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Check out our official review here for more details. Season 1 starts on November 16th, with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launching on the same day.
