Remember how we told you, some time ago, that Capcom had registered a trademark for Dragon’s Dogma Online in Europe, which was hinting at the possibility of the RPG IP returning in a big way, possibly as some sort of MMO? Well, where there is smoke, there is fire, and right now, we are seeing more smoke, as Capcom appears to have registered a trademark for Dragon’s Dogma Online not just in Europe, but in Japan and the US as well.

For those of you who were hoping for a real, legitimate next generation sequel to what has been called Capcom’s best game in years, this may come as bittersweet news- it shows that Capcom has definitively not forgotten about the brand, and that it plans on doing something with it.

On the other hand, with a name like Dragon’s Dogma Online, in the best case scenario, it will be an MMORPG, and in the worst case, it will be some sort of free to play mobile garbage. Neither of these are, I suspect, what fans wanted when they said they wanted more of Dragon’s Dogma.
