Control Features An Unadvertised Cameo From Hideo Kojima

The legendary game director sneaked into Remedy's latest.

Control is fi/nally out, and it seems to be Remedy’s strangest game to date, and very well could be their best. Despite some very bizarre and inconsistent performance issues across console versions, the game is getting good buzz. Something that, surprisingly, got little buzz, however, was that the game features a cameo from a certain legendary game director.

Earlier in the year, Hideo Kojima’s personal assistant tweeted out a picture showing Kojima doing some recording and saying it was for the “other Sam” (meaning not the Sam from his upcoming game, Death Stranding). At the time no one was sure what was being referred to. It did end up being Remedy’s Sam Lake (who had a few cheeky replies to that tweet), as Kojima has a cameo in the game narrating one of the more bizarre side missions the game has.

The cameo wasn’t advertised beforehand, and you probably wouldn’t have guessed even if you are familiar with Kojima’s voice, as he speaks at a lower and more frantic tone than usual. You can check out the original tweet as well as the mission with Kojima’s voice uploaded via a fan below. If you’re wondering who is doing the English voice, it’s Kojima’s Productions’ Communication Manager Aki Saito.

Control is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For some tips on playing the game and getting the most you can out of it, we’ve got you covered through here.
