Crimson Desert Crosses 3 Million Wishlists as Pearl Abyss Seemingly Teases Co-op

Ahead of its March 19th launch, an innocuous image of Kliff and Oongka together on separate mounts could hint at co-op support.

Crimson Desert

With a little over two weeks to go before launch, Pearl Abyss has announced a brand new milestone for Crimson Desert – more than three million wishlists. It’s all the more notable considering that it crossed two million on February 3rd, and further indicates that the marketing around it, including the Features Overview trailers, is clearly working.

However, as Pearl Abyss says it’s “in the final countdown” for the game’s launch on March 19th, something else caught my eye in the celebratory image. We see Kliff on his dragon mount, flying just above the ground, while Oongka follows him on horse. The kicker is that the latter is another playable character that you can unlock.

Does this mean that Crimson Desert will support co-op? Can other players hop in and control Damiane and Oongka? Perhaps everyone can use their own version, which would certainly explain the customization options to make everything from playable characters to horses and mechs visually distinct.

Now it’s possible that this could be a story cutscene, where Kliff saves Oongka, and they ride off together. But for Pearl Abyss, which has remained so guarded about any narrative events, you have to wonder if that’s truly the case.

Regardless, we won’t have to wait long to find out. Crimson Desert will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out how it looks running in native 4K and Ultra settings on PC.
