Crimson Desert’s first DLC is targeting release later this year, according to Pearl Abyss’s 2026 earnings letter. It plans to reveal more details on the release schedule, “structure”, and pricing sometime in the third quarter.
Of course, that’s only the start, as the company has “various follow-up strategies for Crimson Desert, including DLCs and platform expansions.” Describing it as “an IP with substantial potential for expansion – spanning its rich world, characters, and regions – we plan to extend its product lifecycle through a steady stream of content updates.
“We are currently developing the first DLC with the goal of delivering a new gameplay experience, targeting a release within this year. Details regarding its structure, pricing, and exact release schedule will be shared during the third quarter.”
That could mean some point before September 30th, assuming the developer is referring to the calendar year. Marketing and strategic planning expert Will Powers previously noted that the DLC would offer a different experience from the updates released thus far, but didn’t go into further details.
Regardless, the above statement seemingly confirms what many suspected – that Pearl Abyss wouldn’t stop at a single paid DLC. As for “platform expansions,” it mentioned working to run the game on Nintendo Switch 2 and deliver the core experience as intended. While there’s no official word on whether it’s happening, much less when, it’s part of the company’s plan regardless.
Crimson Desert is currently available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and has sold over six million units. You can check out the latest update, 1.17.0, here, though it’s nowhere near as extensive as some of the more standout updates. Not that this is a bad thing, mind you, and it may help for some fans to adjust future expectations.
