Even with real dragons flying about Pywel, Kliff has time to tussle with a mechanical dragon, Golden Star, in epic fashion.

Pearl Abyss has been pushing the high fantasy concept of Crimson Desert for some time now, especially with the reveal of a Battle Robot that Kliff can pilot. However, that’s only the tip of the mech-centric spear – new gameplay by IGN First showcases a battle against a boss, Golden Star. And what else could it be besides a giant mechanical dragon?

Seeking its core to stop a flying fortress, Kliff travels to an abandoned keep where Golden Star hangs out. The fight is pretty harrowing, as it summons fire tornadoes and launches missiles, though the player can rely on EMP bullets to deal damage. Of course, that’s only the first phase, as it retreats with Kliff hanging on for dear life.

If that wasn’t insane enough, his own dragon is in pursuit of the two, attacking from afar. How it ultimately ends remains to be seen, but it’s definitely more of a set piece than other boss fights thus far.

Crimson Desert launches on March 19th, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out some more gameplay here.
