CD Projekt RED have spent a fair bit of time talking about the combat system of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, while also speaking plenty about how the game will handle player progression in terms of things like levelling up and skill trees. They’ve now given a few more details on the same.

In response to a Facebook message (posted on Reddit), Cyberpunk 2077’s official page confirmed that progression in the game will revolve around several things, including attributes, skills, perks, and street cred. Attributes will be your more traditional stats, which will grow as the player levels up, or through the implementation of cyberware implants. Skills, on the other hand, will determine how adept you are at more specific things, such as hacking, crafting, or using a particular weapon type. The more you do these things, the more these skills will level up, sort of how Skyrim handles things.

Then there’s perks, which players can unlock through two means- they can either do so with XP, or through street cred. Street cred will be gained by completing side quests and side activities in the open world. The more street cred you have, the more side activities you unlock, while the same also gives you access to new vendors who might provide you with better equipment and weapons.

In a separate Reddit thread, another user posted a screenshot of their own conversation with Cyberpunk 2077’s official Facebook page, where the devs confirmed that the mantis blade we’ve seen in gameplay footage so far won’t be the only melee weapons in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is without a release date, nor do we know what systems it will launch on. CD Projekt RED, however, remains insistent that releasing the RPG on current-gen system is the plan, while recent rumours have pegged the game for a 2019 release.
