Cyberpunk 2077 might be a game that millions are fervently looking forward to, but there’s one thing about the game that a lot of people haven’t been too keen on for a while. The fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a first person game only with no option for a third person perspective has rubbed some people the wrong way. Well, if you’re one of those people, this new bit of information might not make you too happy.

Recently, reports started swirling around that Cybepunk 2077 would only have cutscenes in first person view exclusively. Marcin Momot, global community manager at CD Projekt RED, took to Twitter to clear things up- Cyberpunk 2077 will indeed have third person cutscenes, but they’ll be “very occasional.” The game will also be third person while you’re driving, and you’ll be able to see your character in the inventory screen and in mirrors (a total shocker). Apparently, the decision to be so committed to the first person perspective is done to achieve “full immersion.”

It’s an interesting choice, especially for a game that is so focused on storytelling as Cyberpunk 2077 is. What sort of an impact that has on how effectively the game tells its story remains to be seen, but at least it’ll achieve the immersion CD Projekt RED are hoping for.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on April 16, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. We recently got 15 minutes of gameplay deep dive, while also receiving a bunch of new information on the game. Check it all out through the links.
