CD Projekt RED’s teases for a potential Cyberpunk 2077-related announcement slated for September 4 have turned out to be not such a big deal. The studio has confirmed that it has no announcements or reveals planned for new content for Cyberpunk 2077 or its Phantom Liberty expansion. Rather, the tease had more to do with celebrating the upcoming anniversary of Phantom Liberty, which the studio is planning for later this month.

“Just FYI, this isn’t any sort of announcement or reveal about new content coming to the game — it’s part of an activity tied to the Phantom Liberty anniversary we’re celebrating this month,” wrote the official social media account for Cyberpunk 2077.

This clarification came as a response to a tease from earlier this week that featured an in-universe message for N.U.S.A. Citizens. Noting September 4, 2025 as the important date, the message is a call-to-action for players to work towards overcoming a “grave threat” from “those who hide in the shadows”. Generally speaking, the tease is meant to be an in-universe recruitment ad for the N.U.S.A. forces.

There were already questions about whether this was a tease for a new DLC or update for Cyberpunk 2077, to which senior community manager Amelia Korzucka had taken to social media to respond, simply saying that “All I can say is it’s not the DLC and it’s not the patch.”

The last major update for Cyberpunk 2077 was patch 2.3 released back in July. The update brought with it a host of quality-of-life changes, as well as some new features. One of the biggest new features in the update was AutoDrive, which allows players to simply let the game handle driving a vehicle to wherever the player might want to go. This means quest objectives, or even manually-placed markers.

As for the new content, the update brought with it four new vehicles: the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru, Rayfield Caliburn “Mordred,” Yaiba ASM-R250 Muramasa, and the Chevillon Legatus 450 Aquila. These vehicles can be earned by players by taking on new side missions. The update also included the return of the Delamain Taxi Service as well. In the meantime, CD Projekt RED has also been working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. More recently, CD Projekt had announced that its team working on Cyberpunk 2 had grown from 96 employees as of April 30 up to 116 employees as of Juyl 31. Along with this, the development team for The Witcher 4 has also grown from 422 as of April 30 to 444 as of July 31.

“Our recruitment efforts have significantly sped up over the last three months and as a result the total number of talented developers working across our projects has grown by 10% reaching almost 800 people,” said joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski in a presentation to investors. “This growth was primarily driven by our two largest development teams.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
