Dead Cells

Motion Twin’s Dead Cells is out next week, having spent more than a year in Steam Early Access. It will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch, so why not watch a short animated trailer showcasing the struggles of living, dying and repeating the maddening cycle endlessly? Check it out below.

Dead Cells sees players entering a castle and struggling through hordes of dangerous monsters. There are numerous different weapons to pick up, Scrolls for increasing three core stats, secondary weapons like bombs and turrets, and much more to provide an edge. Cells gained during a run can help unlock different weapons, health upgrades and Mutators for more benefits on the next run.

And if you die? Respawn, hopefully, choose a better starting weapon, learn your enemies’ attacks and try again. The gorgeous pixel art and responsive combat, which includes parrying and dodge-rolling, certainly helps. Dead Cells arrives on August 7th, but you can pick it up on Steam Early Access right now for $24.99.
