Motion Twin and Evil Empire have announced that the “Breaking Barriers” update for Dead Cells is live. Unlike previous updates that added new biomes, weapons and Mutations, this one focuses on accessibility options and the new Assist Mode. Of course, there are some balance changes like reworks for eight weapons and reduced cost for early game weapons.

Along with input options for holding the button to jump a second time or a toggle for the shield instead of along press, players can adjust the font styles. Font size can be adjusted for item descriptions, dialogue and item names. Interface size and transparency are also customizable. You can also adjust the number of particles and size of the exclamation mark that triggers before enemy attacks.

Assist Mode provides numerous options to make the game easier, like multiple lives (from one to infinite) and Auto-hit (where your primary weapon attacks automatically when in range of an enemy). Trap damage, enemy damage, and enemy health are also adjustable. Want to reveal the entire map? Have at it.

Check out the video below to see all of these options in action. Even more content is planned for the second half of 2022 “and beyond” so stay tuned.
