Deep Silver made a rather surprising announcement earlier when it revealed that Yager Developments had been dropped as the developer for Dead Island 2. Managing director Timo Ulmann later issued a statement where he explained that the spit was due to a difference in vision.
“Our team is made of the best creative minds and tech specialists, who all share a common identity. The team worked with enthusiasm to take Dead Island 2 to a new level of quality. However, Yager and Deep Silver’s respective visions of the project fell out of alignment, which led to the decision that has been made.”
The Spec Ops: The Line developer is currently working on Dreadnought with Grey Box and Ulmann revealed that the studio will “focus current efforts on Dreadnout” and other “new projects.”
Dead Island 2 is slated for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC with the beta arriving first on PS4. Thus far, Deep Silver hasn’t named a new developer for the project so stay tuned for more updates.
