The road to launch was a long and bumpy one for Dead Island 2, but the zombie action RPG is finally here now, having launched last week for PC and consoles. And given how long series fans were waiting for its release, it’s no surprise that it seems to have got off to an impressive start right off the gate where its sales are concerned.
Publisher Deep Silver has announced that Dead Island 2 has already crossed a significant sales milestone, having managed to sell over a million units within three days of its launch. Players have collectively played the game for over 11 million hours, killed over 1.1 billion zombies, and died over 28 million times.
In our review of Dead Island 2, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Dead Island 2 isn’t ground-breaking, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun. With its vibrant yet bloody take on the undead streets of LA, its brutal and enjoyable combat, and its gleeful excess of gore, it delivers a solid experience that’s well worth your time.” Read the full review through here.
Dead Island 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The action RPG will also be receiving new content at some point via its Expansion Pass, though Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios haven’t yet revealed concrete details on that.
