During its Dead Island 2 Showcase, Dambuster Studios showcased new gameplay for the upcoming action RPG amid cheesy live-action scenarios. The first trailer showcases all kinds of gory, brutal combat. Check it out below, along with some new screenshots.

The realistic gore tech sees zombies decaying and dying in unique ways (including one melting away). Players can use various weapons, including firearms, and upgrade them with different elemental effects. Of course, not all zombies are pushovers. Some spew acid from a distance, while others can shatter windows with a scream or ambush you from above.

You can even the odds with Fury Mode, which allows for tearing zombies apart with your bare hands, so that’s neat. Dead Island 2 also supports Alexa Game Control, allowing the use of voice commands for different actions (like switching to sharp weapons). It will be available for Xbox and PC players in English in the United States, Canada and the UK.

The HELL-A Edition was also revealed, which includes a game disc, SteelBook, Expansion Pass, two pin badges, a DI2 Patch, Golden Weapons Pack, Pulp Weapons Pack, six Slayer Tarot Cards, a Venice Beach travel map, and Character Packs 1 and 2. A collector figurine of Amy, one of the playable Slayers, is also available to purchase standalone from Deep Silver’s website.

Pre-orders are live, and those who pre-order any version will get the Memories Of Banoi Pack which includes the Banoi War Club and Memories of Banoi Baseball Bat along with the Balanced Weapon Perk and Personal Space Skills Card.

Dead Island 2 releases on April 28th, 2023, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Stay tuned for more details en route to release.
