Dead Island 2 Still In Development, Says CEO; Game Has To Be Done “Right”

This is still a thing, I guess.

Dead Island 2

Dead Island was something of a sensation when it first released. After an incredible trailer (that didn’t really represent the game at all, but that’s besides the point) and a fun zombie bashing gameplay loop, it released to strong sales and acclaim. But after the original developer departed to make their own take on the formula with Dying Light, the sequel to Dead Island has been in a type of limbo, going through three different developers. At this point, no one is probably expecting it to ever come out, but Koch Media says it still is.

In an interview at GamesIndustry, Koch Media (the parent company to publisher THQ Nordic who owns the license) CEO Klemens Kundratitz reassured that the game is still in development and they weren’t worried about the studio changes, and that the excessive development time will help to “get it right.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve been reassured the game is still in development. Will we actually ever see Dead Island 2, though? Hell, who knows, but Dying Light 2 is coming out next year, so there’s that.
