Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

To say that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was received well would be an understatement – it’s a critical darling and already one of the highest-rated games of the year. But what about commercially? Kojima Productions and Sony have yet to share official sales figures, but Ampere Analysis (via The Game Business) reports 1.4 million units sold in June.

Of course, it was only available on PlayStation 5 for five days last month. While its physical sales in Europe started slower than its predecessor, digital sales are reportedly stronger. It sounds about in line with sales in the UK, where the sequel topped the weekly physical charts but sold 66 percent less than Death Stranding 1 and 33 percent less than Astro Bot.

While the original’s worldwide launch sales are unknown, it sold over five million copies on PS4 and PC as of March 2021. As of March 2025, it’s had over 20 million players.
