Death Stranding Features Lots Of Real Life Product Placement

America is broken, Sam. Here, chug this Monster Energy Drink

Death Stranding sure looks like it’s going to be a very different experience from the usual AAA blockbuster. Not only is the gameplay looking somewhat less involved than one would expect, it’s just looking to be a damn weird game. But it won’t be weird enough to feature a variety of real life products scattered throughout the game.

You may have noticed a few real life brands in the recent gameplay footage released at the Tokyo Game Show. The official Kojima Productions Twitter has been tweeting out the various products the game will feature, including Monster Energy Drink (which Sam can drink for a quick pick me up in-game) and a slick pair of J.F. Rey glasses (thanks to MP1st for compiling the whole list as seen below).

It may seem odd, especially for a game that looks to be so experimental, but Kojima has always had a fascination with putting real life brands and products in his games, such as Axe body spray and CalorieMate in the Metal Gear Solid games. No doubt the product placement helped alleviate some of the budget, too, I imagine. You can check out all of these fine products, and probably even more, in Death Stranding when it launches November 8th.
