Level designer Julien Eveillé says it's very "on the nose" but serves as a "way bigger consequence to a way bigger event" that players cause.

Deathloop is a month old at this point and has attracted a strong amount of critical and commercial success. This is on top of players finding different ways to kill their foes, assassinate the Visionaries and much more. However, there’s at least one “secret thing” that hasn’t been discovered yet as per level designer Julien Eveillé.

“I know for a fact the Internet didn’t find everything hidden in Deathloop so far. There’s still one secret thing I want someone to discover.” Eveillé would later note that the “secret thing isn’t that hidden, it’s actually very ‘on the nose’ but is relying on a series of -not that obvious- odds.” Given that his work focused on Updaam in the Noon and Afternoon, one would think to search the area around those times.

According to Eveillé, however, “It’s a way bigger consequence to a way bigger event that can only happen if you made it happen. Also the cause and the consequence aren’t on the same map!” So essentially, you would have to travel to a different District, figure out what “event” must be completed, and then look for the consequence in another District (which may be Updaam). With four Districts and four different times of day, that makes for quite a lot of exploration.

It should be interesting to see what this secret ultimately ends up being. Deathloop is currently available for PS5 and PC – check out our review here.
