Deep Down Delayed Till After Summer

'This will be a game that takes full advantage of the PS4.'

When Capcom officially announced Deep Down (well, when they announced it beyond it just being a tech demo for the PS4), they also promised a February 22 launch for it- the same day that the PlayStation 4 (finally) launches in Japan.

But it looks like the game won’t be hitting that date, as Capcom have officially delayed it to beyond the summer.

“About Deep Down, I think we’ll give full fledged information to everyone after the summer, so you may have to wait for a little while beyond the launch [of PS4] on February 22nd.

“Since we don’t want to risk to be told “This could have been done on PS3!” we want to finish a game that fully uses the PS4 hardware specs,” said Producer Kazunori Sugiura.

It makes sense because as breathtaking as Deep Down looked when it was first showcased as a PS4 tech demo last February, it looked distinctly downgraded and disappointing at its official announcement. If the developers want and need more time for the game to meet its original vision, then so be it.
