With the Season of the Forge winding down, Bungie is preparing for the Season of the Drifter in Destiny 2: Forsaken. The next premium content release is Joker’s Wild, which adds new Gambit maps, along with other content for Annual Pass owners. However, Bungie will be making changes to the core Gambit experience on March 5th, and senior designer Robbie Stevens has outlined many of them in the recent weekly update.

The third round in a Gambit match is being changed to “Primeval rush sudden death”. It seems that the Primeval will spawn immediately without having to deposit motes. The first team to kill it wins the match. Invader spawn locations are also being overhauled, while the overall number of Invader spawn points is being increased for each map. “This should greatly reduce the chances of spawning very near or in direct line of sight of an enemy Guardian,” said Stevens.

Idle Protection is also coming, which will prevent players who remain AFK extensively from receiving Infamy points or rewards when the match ends. If that weren’t enough, changes are also being made to the Blocker types per tier. They are as follows:

  • Small Blocker – Taken Goblin with less health than the previous Phalanx
  • Medium Blocker – Taken Captain with more health than the previous Knight
  • Large Blocker – Taken Knight with more health than the previous Ogre.

Finally, to close out Season of the Forge, Triple Infamy will be live on February 26th at 9 AM PST. All Infamy earned from matches and bounties will be tripled until March 5th. When can we expect a proper reveal and release date for Joker’s Wild? Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
