Destiny 2 - Guardian Games 2022

The Guardian Games will be returning to Destiny 2 on May 3rd, offering some new and familiar rewards as before. Much like previous iterations, it’s a competition to prove which is the superior class as players earn medallions and deposit them at the Tower. Medallions can be earned from certain activities and quests like the Contender Cards and Platinum Cards.

Low-tier medallions can drop from Vanguard Strikes, the Crucible’s Quickplay playlist, Gambit and from activities in the Throne World. For the higher tier, you’ll need to partake in dungeons, raids, Trials of Osiris, Survival and PsiOps Battlegrounds on the higher difficulties. Gold Medals are earned by completing Contender Cards while Platinum Medals are received from finishing Platinum Cards (which requires completing tougher content).

On top of this is Strike Scoring which takes the amount of time that you’ve put into each playlist for Guardian Games. Strike Medals can be earned from “impressive feats.” Two playlists will be available for Guardians Games – Training and Competitive – and they’re each available at different points:

  • Training – Earn practice scores. Available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Competitive – Earn rewards. Available Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

By ranking in Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, you’ll earn different buffs for each playlist (along with Vanguard Ops). As you complete different activities, torches can be unlocked in the Tower, providing different rewards and a glow on the player’s right shoulder. A glow on the left shoulder is obtained based on the amount of medallions you personally deposit.

Other rewards include The Title, a Legendary SMG with the unique Origin perk “Classy Contender.” This provides class ability energy with final blows. There’s also a chance to earn a Masterworked version of the weapon with “double perks in both the third and fourth columns.” You can also get Class items, the Exotic Heir Apparent along with its Catalyst, and a new Triumph and emblem for those who reach the top 10 percent when the event ends.

Stay tuned for patch notes when Guardians Games goes live next week. Season 17 is also slated to begin on May 24th – head here to read about some the changes.
