Bungie’s newest raid for Destiny 2 went live this past Friday with Root of Nightmares. Exclusive to the Lightfall expansion, it sees players venturing into a Pyramid Ship and battling Nezarec, a powerful figure in the lore. A few hours after the raid went live, Roen and his team cleared it, which Bungie has officially verified.
Though the Contest modifier was active, many have found Root of Nightmares easy. One team cleared the final boss using nothing but the Rat King sidearm. Others have emerged victorious with only three fireteam members, and some have demonstrated how to reach the DPS phase solo, leaving everyone else to clear enemies.
Time will tell if the raid receives a Legendary Mode with a higher difficulty level, so stay tuned. Destiny 2: Lightfall is available for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s received a less-than-stellar reception, which you can read about here, but Bungie says it’s only the beginning of the next year of storytelling.
Rip out the nightmares, root and stem.
