Destiny 2 Renegades

Along with revealing Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate, Bungie took the covers off the second expansion coming this year: Renegades. Out on December 2nd with a reveal planned for September, the short teaser shockingly reveals several elements based on Star Wars, including a Blaster and Lightsaber.

LucasArts is also involved, so what’s going on? According to a press release, the premise involves diving into the “criminal underworld” of a lawless frontier to “take down an evil empire” and reveal a “new Dredgen.” Players will build their power, “credits,” and notoriety, which all sound distinctly Star Wars-esque.

However, Bungie outlined in a separate post that Renegades is “inspired” by Star Wars and seeks to merge the shooter’s “distinctive storytelling and gameplay” with “themes and elements drawn from the iconic sci-fi franchise.” As such, you can look forward to new characters and activities alongside “evolved” mechanics that will “surprise and delight.”

Those looking for something more imminently playable can look forward to The Edge of Fate on July 15th. It sees players venturing to a new planet, Kepler, and dealing with The Nine at the start of a new multi-year journey. They’ll experiment with Dark Matter to traverse the location, run into some new faces, and dive into another raid, which goes live on July 19th.
