As another expansion for Bungie’s Destiny 2 draws near in Shadowkeep, so too does the race for World’s First raid completion. Garden of Salvation goes live on October 5th, which affords time to level up and gear up for the raid. But on top of capping players’ Power during the first 24 hours of launch, it’s making other changes to level the playing field.
Exotic fusion rifle Jotunn will be temporarily disabled during the raid. As director Luke Smith stated on Twitter, this was due to an issue with the weapon which will be fixed in a future update. Community manager Cozmo further explained on Reddit, “We plan is to disable it for the first 24hours to cover the World First race. We can’t pick and choose where it’s disabled, you will not be able to equip it for any activities while it is disabled.”
Why is Jotunn suddenly taboo? It’s because a glitch was discovered that allowed players to inflict massive amounts of damage, thus decimating bosses in an instant. Given that everything is fair game in a World’s First race (unless explicitly banned by Bungie), it was a good idea to disable the weapon before the raid went live.
When can we expect a fix? That’s anyone’s guess. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is out on October 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. If you haven’t finished Forsaken and are migrating from Battle.net, you might want to do so now. Much of the expansion’s content will be inaccessible when Shadowkeep launches.
