No Reason to Run Old Content

Yes, we understand that some loot and equipment will inevitably become outdated, as is the case with most MMORPGs (though Destiny being an FPS means that its weapons and gear are as paramount, if not more, than the various abilities to one’s experience). But why not find some unique way to carry over Year One content, or even include it into the higher level playlists? It would help give a bit more variety to the Vanguard Heroic playlist beyond the same six strikes. Bungie could have also taken to revamping its Year One content to challenge higher level Year Two players. How about challenges for running a higher level Vault of Glass, Crota’s End or Prison of Elders to gain new loot and chances at Exotics? Perhaps there could be different objectives that players need to fulfill in the process for the chance at better items.

Besides helping to keep Year One content relevant, such steps would actually add to the overall range of things to do. At this point, Bungie is only offering PvP events in between each of its major expansions but Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris can only entertain players for so long. What about those who want a compelling reason to play PvE? If Year One content was factored into this in an intriguing way, then there might be some interest. But most importantly, we don’t want great content like King’s Fall to eventually be relegated to the attic of old content when future expansions eventually release.
