WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Devil May Cry 5.

Capcom may not have plans for any post-launch DLC for Devil May Cry 5but they do have some stuff coming- the arena-based Bloody Palace mode, an area where fans of the series have spent countless hours in previous DMC games over the years. And as it turns out, the Bloody Palace might be bringing a lot more than just an area where you can hack and slash hordes of demons into oblivion.

As a user on Reddit has discovered thanks to data mining the game’s files, there’s mention of Vergil, the second son of Sparda and longtime fan-favourite, as a playable character in the game. The base game itself has three playable characters- Dante, Nero, and V – but this does suggest that that could be about to change. Whether this is suggesting his addition in Bloody Palace, or something along the lines of a Special Edition similar to Devil May Cry 3 is as of yet unknown (of course). Interestingly enough, the datamine also mentions matchmaking in the Bloody Palace, which could definitely be an interesting prospect.

There’s more evidence to suggest that Vergil is on his way to be added one way or the other though. As pointed out in a comment by a user in the same Reddit thread, a video uploaded on YouTube by user Nekorun shows Vergil’s character model playing through one of Nero’s sections in the game- so the data for Vergil’s character is definitely in there. Take a look at the video below.

For now, none of this is confirmed or coming through official channels, so it’s best not to take this as gospel just yet. Capcom will most likely be giving out information about Bloody Palace sooner or later, and we might be hearing more about this then- until such time, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated in case we find anything else that you should know.

Devil May Cry 5 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Read our review for it through here.
