DOOM Eternal is, without a doubt, one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year- which makes sense, considering how good its predecessor was, and the fact that developers id Software have a knack for delivering thrilling, adrenaline-fueled shooter combat on a consistent basis.

However, Bethesda have been fairly silent about the game for a while now. And though there latest update – if it can be called that – on the game won’t scratch your itch for watching the game in action (which you can do here) or learning more about its ins and outs, it does give us a look at what to expect from the visual side of things in the upcoming shooter.

A new update shared by Bethesda on Twitter showcases a piece of concept art from DOOM Eternal, titled “Hell Gate”. As its name suggests, it shows the legendary Doom Slayer standing in fronts of the daunting and imposing gates of hell, against a fiery backdrop of- well, fire. Take a look below.

DOOM Eternal is scheduled for a 2019 launch on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia, but it doesn’t currently have a specific release date announced. It’s going to be the centrepiece at Bethesda’s E3 press event next month though, and will also be playable at QuakeCon Europe, so we can expect to hear and see a lot more of the game in the coming weeks.
